This won't work without Stylish, and probably only works on Firefox (don't know about other Mozilla browsers). Only tested on Firefox 4. It is made to only darken.

Hmm, uh-huh, yeah. Simply change the opacity in the code to adjust the "brightness".

Affects about:* pages, http, https, ftp, local files, and chrome directories.
To use this style, install Firefox and Stylish.
